I was born in the Netherlands where I grew up and lived as a child. I spent
much of my childhood drawing and experimenting with paints, crayons, pencils and
other media, and I loved getting my hand dirty with clay. I discovered a talent
for drawing figures at a young age. As a teenager I realised I was able to
produce quite life-like portraits.
I went on to study art in England after my secondary education, and went to
the Medway College of Design in Rochester, Kent, in 1970 where I studied graphic
illustration and fine art. We moved to Germany where I worked as a freelance
illustrator on and off. Back in the UK in the 90s, and after a substantial break
I took up my passion of drawing portraits again. I have always loved drawing
people, especially children. I currently work predominantly as a portrait artist
and take on commissions. I work in watercolour, oil, pastel, charcoal, coloured
pencil and graphite. Recently I have added oil painting to my skills. You can
view my work in my Gallery Pages.
Online I can be found on Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Tumblr and some other
art sites. My work is regularly on display at local art galleries in my area in
Kent. Please visit my 'shop links' (Etsy, eBay, Fineartamerica etc) to buy
originals and prints of my art.
I live in the beautiful Elham Valley in Kent, "The Garden of England", where I
regularly go out sketching and shooting photographs, and where I have an
abundance of inspirational material at my disposal for drawing and painting.
